Office of Administrative Hearings

The Office of Administrative Hearings is an administrative court. If you are an interested party and disagree with a decision made by Paid Family and Medical Leave, you have the right to file an appeal. A judge from the Office of Administrative Hearings will hear and decide the dispute. The judges are not employed by Paid Family and Medical Leave or the Employment Security Department. Judges make independent decisions based on all the evidence presented at hearing.
Please consult the decision you are appealing for information about how and where to file a timely appeal.

To apply for unemployment benefits, visit Employment Security's Unemployment Benefits webpage, follow the steps to make sure you are eligible, and apply online.

Commissioner's Review Office

If you disagree with a decision made by the Office of Administrative Hearings judge, you have the right to file an appeal with the Commissioner’s Review Office.

Department of Labor and Industries

If you are injured at work or develop an occupational disease, you may be eligible for workers’ compensation benefits administered by the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
